Another memorable lesson that I learned at the Dartmouth Conference was how to be a better public speaker. Josh Compton, a Dartmouth Public Speaking Professor, and Laura Braunstein, the English Literature and Languages Librarian, gave a wonderful presentation about how to be a more effective public speaker. In a nutshell, it’s most effective to collaborate with your audience–speak “with” them, not “at” them. Again, this goes back to active and engaged learning. Important lesson!
